Testimonials

Bayan-Erdene Tsendayaa (upper-intermediate level)

This course gave me what I needed – language skills and valuable work experience. I am an economics major but, like anywhere, students in my country find it difficult to get work without experience. The English teachers helped me learn what I needed to face the world of work. The lessons are challenging but well organised. I got chance to practise telephoning and letter writing, but more importantly, my speaking really improved! I was very nervous and the internship was very difficult in the first week. But it gave me a realistic environment to use my skills.

Lucia Gomez (advanced level)

I was attracted to this course because I had never heard of a language course with an internship in a political office. The course was hard work but it gave me a real objective and my English really improved! By the end of the 8 week course I had a lot more confidence. They don’t just teach you language, but about English government and politics. Our lectures were very interesting, and I got chance to ask lots of questions! As part of my internship, I had to do real jobs – not just making cups of tea! They give you a lot of trust and basically, give you tasks which they think you are capable of. Everyone in the office was friendly and they take time to teach you things.

Mikiko Kobayashi (advanced level)

Working in an MP’s office was a fantastic experience for me as I’m a politics graduate. Just being among MPs and working in the House of Commons with all its history and culture was so exciting! I got chance to watch Tony Blair speaking and to see MPs debating and voting on important issues. My MP asked me to do some research on sport on TV - and he actually asked the Prime Minister a question! You get chance to chat and eat lunch with MPs and parliamentary researchers. It was an experience I’ll never forget!
