Faqs I want to go to university in the UK - is it possible? Yes. You need to take the IELTS exam and achieve a score between 6.0 and 9.0. Alternatively, a pass at CAE level (A, B or C) may be enough.
I am an Intermediate/Upper Intermediate level student and I want to take an examination. What should I do? You can take the FCE exam or the IELTS exam. Look at the courses page for more details.
Do you teach mainly grammar or conversation? We have a varied approach which focuses on communication. Our teachers use a mixture of conversation, grammar, reading, writing, listening, vocabulary and pronunciation to encourage our students to communicate. What you will get in our lessons is a balance of all the skills involved in using a language.
How many different levels are there? We teach students from beginner level through to proficiency. There are 7 levels in total. Look at the courses page for more details.
How can I find somewhere to live? We can help you find accommodation. We can organise homestay accommodation where you live with a family in London. There are also many newspapers or agencies where you can find a flat or house to rent.
How can I check my progress at school? Our teachers will give you a test every six weeks. After the test, you will receive a progress report from your teacher and they will speak to you about what you can do to improve your English.
How many students are there in a class? Our average class size is between 10 to 12 students, although the maximum is 18.
How do I make payments? All payments to the school can be made by cash, cheque, bank transfer o traveller's cheques.

Can I take holidays? Please go to our conditions of enrolment page.
How can I get to the school? The school is very close to Baker Street underground station and we are also on many bus routes. For more details go to our location page.
When can I start the course? The General English Course, the Business Course and the IELTS course start every Monday. For other courses, please check starting dates.
Will I have the same teacher for the whole course? Teachers usually change every term, that is every 12 weeks. We think it helps students if they can hear a variety of accents.
What can I do if I have a complaint to make? We have a complaints form which you can fill in. You can discuss the problem with your teacher, the Director of Studies or the Principal.
How long will it take to improve my English to the next level? This varies from student to student. Some students may move to another class after 3 months, but others may move after 6 months.
Will I get the certificate of achievement and progress report from the school? Yes you will have a progress report every 6 weeks and a certificate of achievement when you complete your course with at least 80% of attendance.
Can the school organise special trips and visits for me? If you want a day trip to Oxford or maybe Paris for the weekend, simply ask one of our friendly staff to organise it for you.
As a student can I get a discount travel card? Yes, as long as you are studying on a full time course (15 hours per week) for 14 weeks or more, you can get 30% discount off all London transport, Thames link services and National Rail.
Are there any other discounts or student cards? The ISIC card gives you discount on such things as flights and cinemas. Visit www.istc.org for more details. You can also get our Rose of York student card for £2.
If I want to extend my student visa, what shall I do? You can
either send your application with the necessary documents by recorded
delivery or special delivery at the post office. How many hours can I work if I have a student visa? You can
