Bank Account

Recent changes in banking procedures have made opening a UK bank account difficult. Rose of York will assist eligible students with all the advice they need on how to meet requirements and open an account, but it is necessary to have a bill with the student's name and address.

Useful Tip: If you already have a bank account in your country, it can help you when you want to open a bank account in the UK. Don't close it before you come to England, and bring all your bank account details. Ask your bank to send a statement to your UK address.

Student Visa

The British Department of Immigration requires that students attend at least 7-month course for a minimum of 15 classroom hours per week to obtain a student visa. Rose of York will provide a letter of registration to students who have paid for the course in full. It is important to present this letter to the proper British Embassy, Consulate or High Commission when applying for the student visa. You will need to fill in a form and attend an interview with the Entry Clearance Officer. Make sure you can explain about your financial issues. You need to prove that you have sufficient financial resources to cover all expenses for your stay in London. You need to also read our course information and give reason why you have chosen the course and how it would benefit you for your future career. Accommodation

Accommodation in London is difficult to find and can sometimes be quite expensive. We offer a Homestay and Private Home programme where foreign students can live with an English speaking family in a homely environment. Homestay always include breakfast and dinner. Private Homes are different and only provide breakfast. The price of the accommodation may vary slightly according to where the host families are based and the time of year.

We require between 2 and 3 weeks' advance notice to arrange accommodation for a student and we must receive one week's payment as a deposit. This deposit is non-refundable once the accommodation has been booked. There is a small admin charge of £25 for this service. We can arrange for a pick up service from the airport to the host family. The pick up fee depends on the distance from the airport to the host family, but it is between £50 to £80.

Social Activities

Throughout the year Rose of York organise many optional trips and sightseeing tours on which the teachers accompany the students. Meals in London's restaurants and trips to English pubs are frequent events and an ideal way to practice the English you have learnt. - gallery

Certificates

Upon finishing, our students can obtain a certificate of attendance if they have attended at least 80% of their classes. Both the instructor and the colleges principal sign this document.
